Case Study: General Manager, digital education services, for a market-leading global education provider

The Spencer Group was engaged by a multibillion-pound global education conglomerate with a strong academic publishing heritage, which is leading the market as it moves from an analogy publishing paradigm to a truly digital and direct education model. Having already supported the EFL division to secure a General Manager in Brazil, a key global market for this provider, we were asked to find another General Manager for a £250 million business at the cutting edge of our client’s change agenda.

The role required a proven change agent capable of delivering a global agenda and bringing different stakeholders together to support the initiative, while achieving significant sales and profit growth. Our international cross-sector search delivered a strong shortlist of seven candidates from across financial services, media, education, FMCG and digital information and services.

The successful individual had delivered multiple global change programmes and had significant experience in the digital content and services market. They were also a true global citizen, having lived and worked internationally for some time, and speaking multiple languages.
